Who gives to The University of Northampton?

Alumni, staff and friends of the University, from the UK and overseas have contributed and we are very grateful for their generosity and support.

"The Foundation Scholarships are a wonderful opportunity to support able students who might otherwise be unable to experience all that a University education can offer. It's a tangible way to offer practical help where it's most needed".
Vivien Gaymer, Governor and Trustee of The University of Northampton Foundation

Making a donation to The University of Northampton

Thank you for your interest in making a gift to your University. However you chose to show your support, The University of Northampton, has charitable status this means that gifts made by UK income taxpayers can be made tax effectively.

By completing the donation form and Gift Aid declaration the Inland Revenue will increase your gift by 28p for every £1 that you give. If you pay tax at the higher rate, you may reclaim 18% of the gift value yourself through your income tax return. This can enable a donor paying tax at the higher rate to make a larger gift at no additional cost.

Government Matched Funding Scheme

The UK Government launched its universities' Matched Funding Scheme on 1 August 2008. A three year scheme, it is designed to encourage philanthropic support and help build long term participation from donors.

The University of Northampton is actively participating in this Government Scheme and has applied for matched funding within the 2:1 tier, which will offer a match of 50 pence for £1 raised, with a cap of £1.3 million by 2011. Gifts from alumni, individuals, companies and trusts in the UK and overseas are eligible for matched funding within the scheme.

The University will use the matched funding to encourage philanthropy and to increase donations to the University. Philanthropic support, however modest, has the power to transform lives and together with the matched funds will help the University achieve its ambitious targets and its commitment to serve the educational needs of our communities.

The University's Endowment Fund launched on 28 September 2008, will establish a permanent fund to generate scholarships to help attract talented students to our University. We have set an ambitious target to maximise the full potential of the Government Matched Funding Scheme and to help us to achieve this target, a significant percentage of the funds accrued through the Scheme will be allocated to the Endowment Fund.
