Description

Colour is a valuable asset to any practice. In this one-day Workshop Class we will explore the world of colour using Gestalt, NLP and Deep Memory Process techniques. We will tap into this colourful resource by literally bringing the colours to life so that you can learn from your own personal colour experiences why colour work is such an essential ingredient to today’s ever-changing world. You will learn how to incorporate these easy to learn techniques from the rainbow spectrum into your own working practice.

Presentation: Introduction to colour psychology

"Seeing colour through closed eyes"

Introductory exercise to allow people to experience “seeing colour” through different senses other than sight, this exercise is used by numerous blind schools to help give blind people an understanding and a feel for colour. We all have pre-conceptions about only being able to see colour visually, this exercise begins to break down this viewpoint.

"Circle of Colour"

A group exercise of creating a circle of colour using psychodrama. A circle is created using chairs and then each part of the circle is assigned a specific colour, i.e. Red, Orange, Yellow... People are then asked to choose and sit in a specific colour area of the circle, to physically feel in their bodies how each area of the circle feels completely different, simply by being a different colour. The object of this exercise is that it allows people to feel physically how colour affects them and how we carry all of this information within our body. This exercise is also a great deal of fun but also allows hidden body stories to come to the surface.

"Colour and Archetypes"

Archetypes connected with colour can open up a new world in a clients process and through pair work we will explore and get to know our own colour archetypes and encounter the ones we push back into the recesses of our psyche. Importantly we will also use colour techniques for welcoming these alienated parts of the soul back into the light of consciousness.

"Dislikes of Colour"

Dislikes of colour are an important part of the colour process; we will journey into these colours using Deep Memory Process techniques to find the hidden roots of our dislike. Very often a dislike of a colour reveals a dissociated and shadow part of the soul, by bringing it back into the light we start the healing process of integration.

"Colour – the lost language of the Soul"

In this final part of the workshop we will explore the history of colour and its many uses throughout the world. We will see how at certain points in time colours have been alienated by cultures and religions and the effect it has had on society as a whole. Colour in the therapy practice is also an area worth exploring as getting the colours right can mean the difference between our clients healing process flowing or finding that we as practitioners do not know where to go next with difficult clients. Using a Jungian technique we will explore and find the right colour remedy for our therapy practice. Thus showing how colour can be integrated into every level of our own and that of our clients healing journey.

Biography

Mark Wentworth

Mark Wentworth is to colour what hearing is to music. He observes, he notes, he delves and he emerges with answers which can be as astounding as the realisation that comes from the understanding of a symphony in all its glory.

Mark is a leading colour consultant and specialist. It sounds so simple and superficial, but what defines Mark as a person and what he does is as complex as it is revealing. If you thought colour was purely a matter of recognising the component parts of the spectrum, then think again. Understanding, explaining and applying the deeper meaning of colour and the extraordinary influence it has on our lives is an art and a science all rolled into one. For Mark Wentworth, it as a way of life which takes him around the world time and time again as his audience grows in both size and stature

From a background in film and TV make-up where his natural interest in colour intensified, Mark went on to study with the Colour Harmonic Foundation, gaining honours in a course which covered colour psychology, colour in décor and colour in the environment.

He conducted his own studies and research and his expanded knowledge lead him to establish a worldwide series of workshops, teaching people about the apparent power and everyday use of colour. Qualifying as a colour consultant enabled him to reach an even wider audience and, at the same time, he became increasingly aware of the link between colours in fashion and the effect it appears to have on society.

He will also tell you of the links between colour and the personality, why individuals have colour preferences and how colour can also reflect areas of disharmony and stress within the body.
